"Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got.
Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.
Wouldn't you like to get away?
Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name,
and they're always glad you came.
You wanna be where you can see,
our troubles are all the same
You wanna be where everybody knows
Your name."
With the board transferring over to the other address in a couple days, and being that it is Thanksgiving, I felt compelled to compile some thoughts together and asked BW for the permission to author a "final message" for the board. When Turk put this thing together as the Chicago Tribune boards began to shut down, I never expected in my wildest dreams what this place would mean to me. It's hard to believe that this little hole in cyberspace has come to mean so much to so many of us over the past decade plus. For me, it has been so much on so many different occasions. It has been a source of knowledge, a source of laughter (to the point of shooting Diet Pepsi out my nose on several occasions), a place to multiply joy in life, as well as divide the grief at my life's lowest point. It was a place to go and banter, both seriously and comically, with people from all walks of life and from all over the state... and beyond. It has also been a place where I have been humbled... the intelligence of some on this board truly blows my mind.
I've had the honor to meet some people on this board that I now consider amongst my best friends in life. Now, of course, I knew Turk long before that... he was my Big Brother in the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity at Millikin and has ALWAYS been in my corner. I don't see Turk too often any more, our lives have taken different paths. But I know that with one phone call, he'd be here for me... and he knows that's mutual. And, as I sit on Thanksgiving Day, I once again, find myself giving thanks to Turk... for creating such a space, and bringing so many people into my life.
Thank you, Bruh. You, as always, are Da Man.
Also, a heartfelt thank you to BW who has been the backbone of the site for many years, keeping us from spam ads for penis enhancement, Keno, and mail order brides. I've volunteered to shoulder some of that responsibility at the new place, as BW continues his eventual move towards Tennessee and retirement, and new phase of life.
Personally, I'd like to tell BW thanks for his efforts and friendship. If I could show a standing ovation with the new emoticon from the new board, I would. But I think this one says it all...

Through the board, I've met so many of you and instantly had a bond. There are also so many of you that have touched my life more than you'll ever know. The generosity of this board, as I found ways to honor Devin, absolutely blew my mind. Although time, in a way, puts space between Devin and me, he obviously in my thoughts every day. When I come to the board here, I think of him often. I think of all of you that helped to endow his memories with something tangible to me, and how all of you helped in some small way, to help prevent this from happening to someone else.
To all of you, I thank you. You are all blessings in my life.
I've often compared this site to the bar in "Cheers". It's a place where everybody knows your name. We have our Norm, Cliff, Frasier, Sam, Woody, et. al. We all know more about some of the characters on here than we do about ourselves. We've all let a little (or a lot) of ourselves out to the board here. And what I love is that we don't judge each other. We may rip, argue, chide and cajole one another. But in the end, we find ourselves rooting for each other, each other's families, each other's teams. To me, that's what it's all about. We're all family.

This board will cease to accept new messages soon. The full transfer over to the new board will take place on Dec. 1st. If you haven't already, get over there.
http://turk190.aforumfree.com/ The chat, amongst other things, offer some cool features I hope you all will give a shake.
Moving somewhere else may take some getting used to, but I can't wait to continue. As I contemplate my future in many respects in life, I know I'll be turning to my FAMILY on here to help me navigate the waters.
Thank you to all on here for making this THE BEST spot on the web. As always, I am Charlie Horsefeather of the Redskin Tribe.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all and PEACE!
